The Model 250XP is the ultimate 12″ capacity hand-fed disc-style chipper. It has been popular among tree services and municipalities ever since it was introduced in the early 90’s. Eventhough drum chippers continue to be an industry favorite, the Model 250XP is still preferred by many due to its powerful feed system, wide infeed hopper, powerful chip throwing velocity and overall ease of use.
(2) Powerful dual feed wheels are driven via 32.3 CID hydraulic motors providing 4,480 pounds of pulling power. The standard hydraulic lift cylinder easily crushes and compresses material reducing chainsaw work. A wide profile 64″ wide infeed with fold down tray is standard. For added durability an optional solid tray with heavy-duty rim is recommended.
Gas and diesel engine options are available from 120 to 174 horsepower. All of these combinations make the 250XP the most productive 12″ capacity chipper available on the market today.
Key Features
Large 12.5” x 19” infeed opening and engine options up to 174-horsepower.
High-Velocity Discharge
Smooth transitions from the chipper housing to the discharge spout eliminate hang-ups that can plug the chipper or slow the chip discharge velocity. The transition, along with cupped fan blades, combine to discharge chips at maximum velocity. The cupped fan blades sling the chips as they come off the knife reducing the energy needed to discharge the chips while reducing fuel consumption.
Easy to Maintain
Couplers attaching the feed wheels to the hydraulic motors are easy to remove and replace should a hydraulic motor fail. All hydraulic components are easy to access and service.
Heavy-Duty Chipper
The Bandit 12” models are equipped with:
• 40” diameter x 2” thick disc
• 2 solid pockets
• 4” chipper shaft at hub
• 2-7/16” flange-mounted bearings
Built To Last
The chipper disc, housing and shafts, when properly maintained, have a life of up to 10 to 15 years, or more.
Steel Fuel Tanks
The Model 250XP has a 40 gallon fuel tank. These high-capacity tanks should provide more than a day’s fuel supply for most applications.
Durable Chipper Disc
The chipper disc, housing and shaft are so rugged that very rarely do they need to be replaced.
Power Options
The engine or power unit provides all of the power to run the chipper and the hydraulic functions of the chipper. Because Bandit offers such a wide variety of engine options from all of the major engine suppliers, the customer can select the power unit that best suits his specific needs from a performance standpoint as well as a service standpoint.
Adjustable, Rotatable, Replaceable Anvil
The four-sided anvil provides four usable edges. The anvil adjustment is simple, with bolts and nuts for adjustment.
Wide Chipper Openings
The Model 250XP has a 12” x 19-¼” opening and the infeed hopper is 30-¾” high by 64” wide. All 12” Brush Bandit models are built with a sturdy infeed hopper made of 3/16” thick steel.
Proven, Dependable, User-friendly.
Bandit’s 12” capacity hydraulic-feed disc-style chippers are the chippers that all other 12” chippers are compared to. With three models to choose from, these chippers have been the standard in the tree care industry. These dependable chippers are known for their ability to efficiently process limby materials, logs and trees up to their 12” capacity.
Powerful Dual Feed Wheel System
The Bandit Model 250XP is standard with two 19” wide by 10-5/8” diameter hydraulic feed wheels and 32 CID hydraulic feed wheel motors. The dual feed wheels on the Model 250XP comes equipped with 32.3 CID motors generating 10,838 in/lbs. of torque for each feed wheel, along with 2,420 lbs. of pulling power for each feed wheel. There are two wheels – one on top and one on the bottom. The powerful dual wheel feed system makes it easy to chip large diameter material and multiple stems. It also makes it easy to chip material with multiple limbs, reducing the need for trimming. The larger feed wheel also climbs the bigger material easier.
Patented Infeed Pan Lift Assist
The heavy-duty fold-out infeed pan on the larger Bandit chippers tend to be on the heavy side due to their size and strength. These spring assists make it easy to raise and lower the infeed pan.
Angle Feed
Bandit’s 12” disc-style chippers are set at an approximate 45° angle to the flow of material into the chipper. That, in conjunction with the chipping angle of the knife, assists the feed system by pulling material into the chipper. The pulling action of the chippers assists the feed system in getting wood from the feed system to the chipper knives. The angle feed is also a much easier way of cutting the material, which means the machine will chip with less vibration, consume less fuel, and will chip larger diameter material with lower horsepower. The advantage of this angle feed is best compared to whittling, where it is much easier to cut with the grain rather than going against or across the grain.
